FirstThursday Seattle Honors former Washington State Senator George Fleming during Black History Month

FirstThursday Seattle honors former Washington State Senator and University of Washington football legend, George Fleming during its 2012 Black History Month Celebration.

George Fleming is one of Seattle’s most dedicated citizen and humanitarian. George served more than 20 years in the Washington State Senate championing many opportunities for Black and urban businesses in the Senate.

George was also a standout football player at the University of Washington where he starred a running back and special teams performer. In January, George was inducted into the Rose Bowl Hall of Fame during the 2012 Rose Bowl

  1. Congratulations to a man that stood tall at the U of W under  famed Coach Jim Owens who didn't always treat his Black players with the ultimate respect.
